MCSS' Environmental Advisor's tip of the week:
People always talk about the three Rs being “what you can do for the environment” but the emphasis should really be on the first two Rs.
Reducing is the best thing you can do for the environment. Reduce what you use in every sector of your life to the minimum.
The next step is of course reusing. Things that you need or have on hand should be reused as much as possible. Look up inventive ways to reuse your belongings if you don’t know what to do with them.
The last R is the last resort, recycle. I’d like to say that the global effort to recycle has made a large positive impact on the environment but sadly that is not the case. As a global population we are using so much that there is just too much to recycle. Watch this video to learn more about today’s recycling dilemma. https://www.facebook.com/storyofstuff/videos/10156135072569809/
Here is a link to a movie about the environmental and social issues of the clothing industry. I’m sure it will encourage you to reduce and reuse your clothes! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDx711ibD1M
