Join the conversation with Mitchell McLarnon, Community Gardner, McGill Faculty of Education PhD candidate Wednesday, October 3, 2018 3pm - 4pm in R1-042
While many understand gardening as the act of growing food, or to beautify outdoor spaces, Mitchell uses gardens to host discussions around wellbeing and using innovation to address social ills. Moving beyond the idea of gardening for improved nutrition and physical activity, Mitchell argues that participation in gardening can also promote community wellbeing, ecological literacy, and social capital. Join gardener, lecturer and PhD candidate, Mitchell McLarnon, as he discusses his journey creating, installing, and supporting community gardens with local schools and community organizations in Montreal.
